The Vineyard Church, in partnership with the Stafford Municipal School District will be hosting a launch party on August 14, 2010, a back to school fair that offers back packs and school supplies, hair cuts, family photos, and a box of food for families.  All of these services are being provided free of charge.

We are committed to making an impact in the city of Stafford.  There are only 3100 students from K-12 in the entire school district.

You can help by volunteering for the Event Day here or you can sponsor a child here.  If you are a parent of a Stafford Student let us know you are coming by filling out the information below.

FOOD OUTREACH

Food is one of our most basic needs.  Regardless of the state of the economy the Vineyard knows that a bag of groceries can mean the difference between poverty and having enough.  Our church is in partner relationships in our city that help families get what they need.  Hundreds of boxes and bags of groceries are given away every week and you can help by praying with those who receive them or helping to pack those boxes.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

One of the most uniting or dividing forces in our society is language.  The Vineyard is committed to reconciling community.  Our hope is to participate in ways that empower individuals to sustaining work and life as we partner with God to make a difference in the world.  One of the ways we believe we can do that is by offering to walk alongside individuals as they learn English.

If you would like to be trained to tutor ESL (English as a Second Language) there are tutor courses offered every other month through the Fort Bend Literacy Council for FREE!  For more information visit see our calendar for the next tutor training e-mail impact@slvineyard.org to let us know that you are interested in assisting with the next ESL class!

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Outside of our ongoing IMPACT teams we participate in special projects that really get us excited!  If you want to help e-mail impact@slvineyard.org

Stafford Cleanup - Keep Stafford Beautiful

Every April organizations and corporations from our city spread out to every corner of the city to pick up trash from our streets and bayous.  We gather together at City Hall at the end to celebrate with BBQ and music!  To date, The Vineyard holds the record for most participation (150+ last year), most trash picked up, and youngest participant.  This year we are looking to break records and create new ones as we look to pass on our recently held quarterly neighborhood beautification award to another Stafford property.

Bethel Camp

Every summer, when school is out, hundreds of kids from the 5th street neighborhood are left without much hope of activity, air conditioning, food, and/or parental oversight as most families have both guardians working.  In partnership with Bethel ministries we serve as camp directors for over 100 kids with games, snacks, crafts, and a message of God's love.

Thanksgiving Baskets

In partnership with Ft. Bend Human Protective Services, every year the Vineyard puts together over 120 Thanksgiving baskets each year for families who are under investigation or considered in need of assistance.   Vineyard kids and youth play a huge role in putting these baskets together, sharing together with the whole church what it means to participate with God to make a difference in the world.

Angel Tree

In partnership with Prison Fellowship the Vineyard sponsors almost 100 children per year with christmas gifts given in name of an imprisoned parent.  Gifts are given at our annual Angel Tree Christmas party!

HOME REPAIR

At the end of the day we all need a safe place to call home.  Sometimes the level of safety in our homes is limited by our financial or physical abilities.  When home is less than safe our home repair ministry comes in.  Men and women from the Vineyard, some with particular talent, some with no talent at all except the willingness to be helpful, visit homes every other month to address some of the most basic needs.  By the way... When you join the Home Repair Impact team you receive a "Bob" designation.  Sometimes we just call this team "The Bobs."  E-mail impact@slvineyard.org if you would like more information on becoming a "Bob."

NURSING HOME

Sometimes an assisted living facility or nursing home can be a very lonely place, where constant attention is needed to get an individual through the day with dignity.  Jesus said that he is embodied in those who are sick and in prison; that when we visit them, we are visiting Jesus himself.

Join with the Vineyard teams that visit those who are sick in an assisted living or nursing facility.  I promise that you will get to know Jesus better.  See the IMPACT - "Making a difference" calendar for more details or e-mail impact@slvineyard.org for more information.
